Every Career has its own story: How a Recruiter can become part of yours

As a recruiter I often come across people who don’t see the necessity of a third party in pursuing a career. I see it differently. This necessity was actually my reason to go into recruitment.

Before I started to work in executive search I trained in theatre for 15 years. I started in a TIE group (Theatre In Education) at a rather young age, which taught me the importance of self-expression and various ways to represent my ideas and thoughts in any setting or situation.

I had the privilege to train in four different countries to learn different ways of achieving the same goal and also to meet people - I was able to learn about their aims and reasons for undertaking such training.

Entering the so called working life, I have met people from all walks of life, some of them being outstandingly great in their profession however a lot of them struggled to represent their brilliant ideas and communicate in an efficient manner. I’ve realised that what I have gained from theatre is not a norm.

Before I started to work in recruitment, I took the opportunity to spend time helping and improving individual’s communication from how to express their thoughts and ideas in a better way, to fight their anxiety and how to engage with their audience. I see recruitment as part of this training: to identify opportunities, to match brilliant minds with great opportunities.

Some people have the knowledge to discover and to achieve the impossible but they may need someone to point out what they are capable of. This is not necessarily about confidence and I’m not trying to imply people are incapable of making a career move without a recruiter but they may be able to fill the gap leading to path you never even dreamt of.

THINK POSITIVE

Create a positive life

Creating a positive mental attitude will help you take verbal and physical action, the words you choose to use in your vocabulary can impact yourself and others around you. Actions can open up new and existing opportunities that will increase your quality of life, in both personally and professionally environments.

Steps you need to take to create a more positive life!

1. Positive Words

Starting with the most basic way to be more positive and to show others your positive attitude.
Listed below are some key words, that I believe will make you believe and come across more positive and confident.

(Laughter, Pleasure, Love, Success, Happy, Yes, Absolutely, Smile, Good, Energy, Authentic, Easy, Fresh, Interesting, Fair, Dear, Agree, Peace, Fantastic, Funny, Relax, Bright, Win, Celebration, Healthy, Excellent, Amazing, Great, Eager, Brilliant, Honest, Genuine, Efficient, Marvellous, friendly, hopeful, Optimistic, Outstanding, Valuable.)

2. Positive Habits

If you struggle to be positive with all occurrences in life, do not isolate yourself, many individuals struggle to think positive in certain situations but this is natural, when an occurrence happens in our life which may cause us to think negative it can be difficult to overcome this set back. The positive news is that we can learn new habits like adding more positive words to our vocabulary; practice regularly in social and professional environments, developing and consistently practicing will benefit you massively.

Remember changing positive habits is the key to a positive life, but this process doesn’t happen over night, there is always room for improvement in everyone’s life even if you believe you are a positive thinker, you can learn from the good and the not so good.

3. Thoughts, Words and Actions

If you believe you do not have positive thoughts, do not be disheartened. Research has shown that 1 out of 5 thoughts in a day are positive and meaningful. The rest are nonsense and negative thoughts.  What this shows is that every Human in the world has to make a substantial effort to be positive if they desire to.

Paying great detail to the words and actions you take, you become more aware of whom you are, when you become more aware of who you are you have great chances to make positive changes within your life.

     4. Personal and Professional Relationships

The individuals surrounding you are key to your positive mentality and your thoughts, selection who you wish to communicate and be around can have significant impact on your mentality, being around negative people who will bring you down with them is something to avoid, you want to be around individuals who are positive looking on the up  - this will help bring you along to create a positive attitude.

You may be shocked to find out that negative people, negative environment, will contribute highly to making you feel negative, do not assume this is yourself, reflect and look at other individuals to see their negative/positive attitudes.

Do not wait for someone to make a positive impact in your life, make an impact and maybe help someone else think and act positively.

Smile More, Exercise More, Think Positive, Act Positive & Believe In Your Own Success.
